The story behind the song: I feel the rain
If there is one lesson I have learned from the process of
writing and recording this song, it is that there is no such thing as my own
timing, but only Gods timing.
The song, I Feel The Rain, was written in December 2014 and
it took months before I finally met Darren Peens from Digby And The Lullaby,
and actually finally recorded the song.
And then, once the song was recorded it took some more
waiting before the song could be officially released and the video recorded
because I was so very busy and had so many amazing opportunities to share my
testimony at churches and schools, and when I did plan to release the song in
September, I was sick and exhausted and felt awfully ill with morning sickness
because guess what? We were pregnant with my son Quade!
What is fascinating too about Gods timing and the song, is
that I had no idea when I wrote the song, that South Africa would be facing the
most severe drought to date…
And weather the song is interpreted literally that rain is
coming, or that spiritual rain, blessing, Gods promise is soon to be fulfilled, the song
is a song of hope and faith declaring that although circumstances are tough, the smell is the promise that soon rain will fall from the heavens.
I was blessed and honored to have had creative geniuses
Rash Ferguson and Nick Parker produce the video and the video was filmed at the
Durbanville Magic Forest.
The video ends with the scripture because our land needs much prayer…
Our country needs to pray together for repentance and for
grace and for our leaders to make the right choices… much healing still needs
to take place in many hearts before we can properly move forward. Sadly there is still so much racism and so much pain among the people of South Africa.
Sadly our leaders are making so many wrong and corrupt choices that are hurting the people of this beautiful land.
I pray that this song will encourage people who are in a season
of waiting, to keep praying for the rain, to keep hoping, to know that the
clouds will bring forth the miracles that God has promised.
